Getting the most value from your National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding requires informed planning and a support provider that truly understands your goals.
STEPS Community Support works alongside participants and their families and support networks to help maximise NDIS funding and achieve meaningful, personalised outcomes.
Our focus is on delivering tailored supports that align with each person’s individual needs, helping participants build their independence and increase community participation while working towards their long-term goals.
When NDIS participants receive consistent support aligned to their individual goals, community and social participation steadily increases, leading to a higher quality of life. So, how do you make sure you’re making the most of your NDIS plan?
No one-size-fits-all plan
Every participant’s goals, needs and circumstances are different, which is why STEPS Community Support doesn’t have a one-size-fits-all approach to NDIS plans.
We take a personalised and coordinated approach to support delivery, working with participants to create a combination of services that support different areas of life; this can include assistance with daily routines, social and community participation, and employment.
To help our participants stretch their funding further, we explore alternative support arrangements where possible and suitable. This may include group-based programs, shared Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, and wrap-around service models that coordinate multiple STEPS Community Support programs and services.
STEPS can help you explore these opportunities so you can access the support you need while making the most of your available funding.
Personalised support in practice
For STEPS Community Support participant Paul, making the most of his NDIS funding meant finding a more sustainable way to access the supports he needed while staying on track to pursue his goals.
Paul first connected with STEPS through STEPS Pathways College, the first and only Boarding College of its kind in Australia for young people with a disability and autism. Over time, Paul’s support needs evolved and our team worked closely with him and his loved ones to maximise the value of his NDIS plan without compromising the quality of his support.
Despite working with a tight budget, Paul successfully completed his time at STEPS Pathways College and transitioned into a SIL home with two other NDIS participants. By sharing supports with his housemates, Paul was able to access the assistance he needed while making his funding go further.
Today, Paul benefits from several coordinated STEPS Community Support services, including Supported Independent Living and Work Mates, our disability employment support program. This collaborative approach supports Paul as he continues to develop his independence and pursue his goals while remaining connected to his community.
