Much-loved STEPS training mannequin Bernie recently enjoyed a rare day out at the Bundaberg Careers Expo 2026 and quickly became one of the event’s most popular attractions.

Usually found quietly sitting in class, Bernie helps our Individual Support participants learn safe techniques and practical care skills.

But Bernie had the opportunity to step out on the town and visit Bundaberg Regional Council’s Careers Expo, meeting local students and sparking conversations about careers in the care industry.

The event helped showcase STEPS’ Individual Support training, which can open doors to one of Bundaberg’s fastest-growing sectors.

Bernie and the team also took the opportunity to spread the word about the other STEPS programs on offer at Bundaberg, including Get Set for WorkSTEPS Work Mates, and the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, highlighting the range of support available to job seekers in the community.

Thank you to everyone who visited the STEPS booth at the Careers Expo!

If you’re interested in making a career change or pursuing a nationally recognised qualification, please visit STEPS’ Education and Training Courses page to find more information and apply.
