It’s Queensland Mental Health Week 2020 (QMHW) and STEPS is finding ways to connect with our community and bring mental health into the spotlight.
QMHW runs from 10 – 18 October and is an annual event that aims to raise awareness and focus on mental health and wellbeing.
Take time for mental health is the theme for this year and it focuses on simple actions we can take to improve our wellbeing.
To recognise the importance of mental health and continue the conversation about what we can do to improve our wellbeing, STEPS and Community Mental Health Nambour have organised Hip to C-Square – a special event for the community.
Kicking off at Nambour’s Centenary Square on Wednesday 14 October, Hip to C-Square will have great food, arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, live music and a range of informational stands from organisations in the community.
STEPS Employment Services Manager Liza Brock said the event aims to get people thinking about the importance of looking after their mental health.
“Everyone is welcome and it’s an awesome opportunity to take time out to enjoy yourself, connect with the community and take time to consider your mental health and wellbeing.
“Attending this event is a great way to learn tips and strategies to maintain our wellbeing, to meet new people and connect with new services that you may not know are available,” she said.
