STEPS enjoyed a day on the greens at Caloundra Pacific Rotary Club’s Ian Baker Finch Charity Golf Day.

Named after international golf legend Ian Baker Finch who was born on the Sunshine Coast, Friday’s Charity Golf Day attracted over 130 golfers to compete in teams of four and support the event’s official charity partners.

As one of the event’s two official Charity Partners for the last eight years, STEPS also continued their tradition of annually registering a team to compete in the golfing activities.

This year, General Manager of Mental Health Services Josh Hansen and General Manager of NDIS Services Rebecca Bowtell led the STEPS team, each being accompanied by a staff member from their respective programs.

Mr Hansen also delivered this year’s speech at the day’s official luncheon, which he says is an important opportunity for STEPS.

“Not only does it give us a chance to promote STEPS Pathways College to those in the community, including those who may be a parent or uncle or grandparent to a young adult living with a disability or autism, but it also allows us to reach out to new business partners who can support our students,” Mr Hansen said.

“I was honoured to have the opportunity to share the STEPS story with this year’s attendees, particularly the work we do at STEPS Pathways College and the ways we’re helping our students change their lives for the better.”

STEPS has had a long partnership with the Ian Baker Finch Charity Gold Day, encouraging STEPS Pathways College students and participants from Education and Training programs to take part in in the events of the day and demonstrate the life skills they have developed in their learning journey.

STEPS hopes to continue their strong relationship with the Caloundra Pacific Rotary Club and its Ian Baker Finch Charity Golf Day, empowering students and staff to participate and promoting their programs to reach more young adults living with disabilities and autism who are looking to live independently.
