The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) is a nationally recognised qualification providing you with the confidence needed to gain employment in a range of care and support roles.

Location

  • Hobart – 27 Elizabeth Street

Delivery and duration

  • Blended delivery over 26 weeks (including 120 hours of work placement)
  • Class times 9.30am – 2.30pm
  • Monday-Wednesday (face-to-face classroom delivery and Thursday-Friday (online/flexible)
  • Self-directed study

Work placement

  • 120 hours of work placement is required to achieve this qualification within the Ageing and Disability sector including evidence of hours worked
  • Monday to Friday with own transport required

Entry requirements

  • Physical ability to be able to perform the required manual handling duties of a carer
  • Evidence of current flu and COVID vaccinations maybe required for mandatory work placement requirements
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker’s Screening Card (Yellow Card)
  • Language, literacy and numeracy assessment

Eligibility criteria

Citizenship and Visa status

  1. Is an Australian citizen or who holds a current Australian permanent resident visa; or
  2. Is lawfully permitted to work and study in Australia and who is also:
    1. A New Zealand Citizen with a Special Category Visa; or
    2. The holder of a valid temporary humanitarian visa; or
    3. The holder of a Tasmanian State Nominated Skilled visa; or
    4. The holder of abridging visa and awaiting a decision on a Tasmanian State Nominated Skilled Visa; or
    5. A dependent (aged over 18 years of age) or partner (spouse) visa holder of a person who satisfied the requires for an eligible leaner.

 

School learner status

A school aged leaner is only eligible to be an Eligible Learner if they:

  1. Satisfy the requirements above
  2. Are undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship.

 

Prior qualifications and funding source

In addition to the requirements set out in this section 3, for a person to be an Eligible Learner, they must:

  1. Have not received Subsidised Training for the same Training Product (unless required by licensing) in the previous five (5) years
  2. Not be currently receiving funding for the same Training Product from any other government source (local, State or Australian); and
  3. Have an approved training contract if they will train as an apprentice or trainee.

 

Employees of government agencies and departments

A person who otherwise satisfies the requirements for being an Eligible Learner is ineligible to receive Subsidised Training if the training in question is connected to their employment with:

  1. A Australian Government agency or department; or
  2. A Tasmanian Government agency or department unless otherwise approved by the Grantor in writing.

Fees

  • This course is free for eligible learners. Please check our website for the eligibility criteria.

This training is subsidised by the Department of State Growth, Tasmania.
