Gain the theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for providing person-centred support to people who require assistance due to ageing or disability. The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) is a nationally recognised qualification providing you with the confidence needed to gain employment in a range of care and support roles.

Delivery and duration

  • Blended delivery over 26 weeks (including 120 hours of work placement)
  • Face to face classroom delivery and practical assessment
  • 9am-4pm on class days
  • Self-directed study

Work placement

  • 120 hours of vocational placement is required which can be met through their workplace hours (must be in a direct support role with clients). Please note that evidence of hours from workplace will be required.
  • Monday to Friday with own transport required

CHCDIS012 - Support community participation and social inclusion

CHCDIS020 - Work effectively in disability support

Entry Requirements

  • Physical ability to be able to perform the required manual handling duties of a carer
  • Evidence of current flu and COVID vaccinations maybe required for mandatory work placement requirements
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker’s Screening Card (Yellow Card)
  • Language, literacy and numeracy assessment

 

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be aged 15 years or older, and no longer in school
  • Permanently live in Queensland
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with an eligible visa subclass
  • Not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student, and foundation skills qualifications don’t count)
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it’s on hold or deferred, whether funded by us (Department of Trade, Employment and Training) or not (foundation skills qualification don’t count).

Along with the eligibility criteria above, specific entry requirements or exemptions may apply to certain funded qualifications and skill sets. These are set by industry or sector requirements, as well as national training package guidelines.

Fees

The following co-contribution fees are payable for those eligible under the Career Start:

  • Eligible Non-Concessional Student: Full co-contribution fee $150
  • Eligible Concessional Student: Full co-contribution fee $60
  • Full Fee Paying Student: $4,200
