A recent grant from the Australia Post Our Neighbourhood Community Grants scheme means the George Street Nursery will soon see some “home grown” initiatives come to fruition.

The Nursery has some fantastic and proactive volunteers who have developed an educational, interactive garden area. Thanks largely to the funds received from this grant, this area will soon boast a wood-fired pizza oven and timber nest boxes, it is hoped that this will be used by local schools as an educational facility as well as being open to all who wish to visit and enjoy the experience.

Members of the public can visit the gardens and purchase fresh home grown vegetables and a range of healthy native & domestic plants at very reasonable prices. STEPS Charity Manager, Cheryl McGrath said, “People love to come in and have a look, purchase stock and help out in the garden. They just enjoy being part of the wonderful community spirit and camaraderie that thrives in the Nursery”.
