Two women living in a STEPS Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Nirimba are looking forward to welcoming a new female tenant into their household.
For the STEPS Community Support team, Supported Independent Living is about much more than simply providing assistance with daily living.
“It’s about creating a home where people feel comfortable, respected and connected to community,” STEPS General Manager of NDIS Services Rebecca Bowtell said.
“Having the right housemates can make a real difference to a person’s confidence and overall wellbeing. We are very excited to help find a new participant to join our Nirimba housemates.”
The SIL vacancy is suited to a female tenant seeking shared living with other women in a supportive and welcoming environment with 24/7 on-site support.
STEPS SIL homes offer a safe space for participants to form friendships, develop healthy routines, and share everyday moments of independence. The current housemates enjoy spending time outdoors, connecting with their community and sharing everyday moments together, and look forward to welcoming someone new to the household. The two participants regularly show support for one another, whether it’s by bonding over a heart-to-heart conversation and a cup of tea or going out for local activities.
The SIL home is located in the growing Nirimba community in the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, close to local parks, barbecue facilities, basketball courts, and shopping centres, making it easy for residents to stay connected and active in their community.
