Teegan, a participant in the STEPS Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, is one of three Australians who have been awarded a 2025 Adult Learners Week scholarship, receiving $1000 from Adult Learning Australia to support her continued business studies in Palmerston.

“I am over the moon and very surprised,” Teegan said.

“All my friends and family are very proud. I love coming to STEPS and the best part is the people: the participants, staff, and my Trainer Tripti. I’m so happy to be learning in the SEE Program.”

Teegan’s journey is one of courage, growth and determination. When she first joined the STEPS SEE Program, she was quiet and reserved. Over time, she began to build her confidence, participate in classroom activities, and form meaningful friendships.

Her enthusiasm and commitment, especially in digital literacy classes and when using Microsoft Word, quickly stood out.

As the mother of a young child, Teegan balances parenting duties and study commitments with remarkable dedication. She attends classes regularly, completes assignments on time, and actively supports her peers, often helping classmates with computer tasks while staying focused on her own goals.

From coffee making and cooking lessons to art and craft sessions, Teegan embraces every opportunity to grow. These activities helped her discover her voice and build the confidence that now shines through in everything she does.

Teegan plans to use her scholarship to purchase a laptop, helping her pursue the BSB30120 Certificate III in Business qualification through the STEPS SEE Program putting her on a pathway to a career in accounting.

STEPS Palmerston recently hosted a morning tea to celebrate Teegan’s achievement and Adult Learners Week. Her story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when opportunity meets determination, and the whole team is proud to support her continued success.
