Known for her unwavering support and ability to connect meaningfully with every learner, Kaz’s nomination is a testament to her dedication and impact.
Tropical North VET Trainer of the Year
Frances Mintrom, a Trainer for the STEPS Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program in Cairns City, has also been nominated for VET Trainer of the Year in the Tropical North region.

When will the winners be revealed?
The Queensland Training Awards, now in their 62nd year, highlight excellence and innovation across all areas of vocational education.
This includes students and participants, apprentices, trainees, teachers, training providers, and employers.
Over 750 nominations were submitted statewide in 2025, and Kaz and Frances’ selections for further consideration reflect their outstanding contributions to their participants’ journeys.
Both nominees are now preparing for the next stage of the process, with the regional winners to be announced on Friday 25 July 2025. If selected, they’ll advance to the state finals, where they will represent their regions and STEPS as a whole.
A huge congratulations to Kaz and Frances! Your passion, professionalism and belief in your participants are an inspiration to us all.
