When Will’s job changed unexpectedly, it left him feeling lost and unsure of what to do next. The daily routine he once relied on had shifted, and with it, his sense of direction.

That’s when his Support Coordinator introduced him to STEPS Work Mates in Hobart, and everything began to change.

STEPS Work Mates offers personalised, long-term employment coaching for people with an NDIS plan. For Will, this meant more than just updating a resume; his Job Readiness Trainer helped him look at the skills he’d developed, identify new goals, and grow his confidence in his ability to navigate the job market.

With one-on-one support from STEPS Job Readiness Trainer Carissa, Will worked on resume writing, job searching, and crafting tailored cover letters that helped him stand out.

He found a renewed sense of purpose and became empowered to step into something new. Will applied for a retail role, was invited to an interview, and landed the job.

“I didn’t even know programs like this existed. I’m so glad I gave it a go,” Will said.

Today, Will feels proud of how far he’s come. With a new job and ongoing support from the STEPS Work Mates team, he’s excited about the future.

With the right support, change doesn’t have to be a setback; it can be the first step towards something even better, and Will’s story is proof of that.

Whether someone is looking to re-enter the workforce or explore a new path, STEPS Work Mates is here to help. We offer tailored coaching, skill development and goal-setting support to empower NDIS clients to find meaningful and lasting employment.
