Sarah’s first holiday adventure

Sarah, a STEPS Community Support participant on the Sunshine Coast, recently enjoyed her first holiday: a six-day trip to the Gold Coast!

The trip marked a big milestone in her journey towards greater independence. It was Sarah’s first time away from her family, and with the help of STEPS and her support coordinator, every detail was carefully planned to make sure she felt safe, supported and excited.

A familiar support worker accompanied Sarah for the trip, offering her reassurance as she stepped outside her comfort zone and embraced new opportunities.

The highlight of her holiday was a visit to Sea World, where she got to spend time with her favourite animal, dolphins! Sarah also enjoyed trips to the movies, dining out, exploring local shops, and creating lasting memories that are sure to spark joy whenever she looks back on her time on the Gold Coast.

The experience helped Sarah become more confident and independent, and now she’s even more excited to discover what else is possible for her to do. She’s already thinking about her next adventure, and we’ll be cheering her on and supporting her every step of the way.

STEPS wants to help more people living with a disability and autism access amazing opportunities and support them in working towards their goals, no matter how big or small.
