Our feature plants for spring

Looking for something new to plant? Check out these two seasonal favourites from STEPS Garden Centre. They’re easy to grow, full of flavour and perfect for our Sunny Coast conditions.

Lemon bergamot (Monarda citriodora)

A gorgeous addition to sunny or partly shaded spots, lemon bergamot brings a citrusy zing to your garden and your kitchen.

Add the lemon-scented leaves to salads or tea, and plant near your veggies to help naturally repel insects. To avoid mildew, make sure to give your lemons a bit of extra space for airflow.

Figalicious dwarf fig (Ficus carica)

Short on space? This compact fig variety only grows about 1 metre tall, perfect for pots, balconies or small gardens.

The Figalicious produces delicious dark red fruit and thrives in South East Queensland’s sunny, well drained spots.

Don’t forget to add mulch and water well during fruiting season for the sweetest results.
