STEPS are pioneering a ground breaking solution to alleviate the pressures of the current disability housing crisis, with an independent living training program.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Similarly to the age old proverb, the independent living program aims to give people with a disability the skills to live independently in mainstream housing. This not only takes pressure off designated disability housing, but provides people with the independence, choices and lifestyle most of us take for granted.

The program, which will be launched next year, will teach young people with a disability a range of skills including how to shop for nutritious food, prepare healthy meals, manage household costs, and organise support services.

Help us create a brighter future for young people with a disability by donating to the STEPS Charity independent living program.
