Belinda is a young Australian  woman who has had a number of setbacks and personal challenges in her life recently. A single mum who spent some time in a homeless shelter,  she was determined to improve her situation and follow her dream of becoming a Childcare Assistant.  She realised that she needed some help to improve her Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills in order to achieve this goal, so she decided to join the STEPS program with the help of her Job Search Agency.

Belinda persisted on the LLNP course with almost 100% attendance and completed a total of 800 hours in training. She has  made commendable progress in all LLN skill areas during the course, but not only that, she has gained greater confidence and understanding of her own learning requirements and goals.  She was an outgoing student who was always ready with a story or an example to contribute to class discussions. She was  very generous with her fellow students and often liked to help them in studies or with personal issues.

Since completing the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, Belinda has contacted a local training organisation offering a Certificate III in Childcare. She has applied and was successful in passing their LLN entrance test. Now she is enrolled and is looking forward to beginning her Course in January 2014.

We are sure that Belinda’s determination and drive will see her succeed in achieving her dreams. Her goal of a career in Childcare is now one step closer. Merry Christmas Belinda – and Good luck with your studies!

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
