The STEPS Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program in Cairns has farewelled one of its most dedicated volunteers, Jurgen, who recently retired after more than eleven years of dedicated service.
Jurgen, a former teacher from Germany, brought warmth and patience to every participant he supported. Utilising his background in education and a heart for helping others, he played a big role in encouraging STEPS SEE participants to become more confident and skilled, especially in the often-daunting world of numeracy. His step-by-step approach made even the most complex topics feel manageable, helping our participants feel seen, supported and empowered.
STEPS Trainer Justyna said that Jurgen was a beloved part of the STEPS community. “His presence has helped shape the Cairns SEE Program in so many ways, and he will be missed deeply by all of us,” she said.
STEPS extends its deepest thanks to Jurgen for his years of service, and we all wish him a big congratulations on his well-deserved retirement.
