Hi, my name is Lindsay Sutton. In 2012 I was living in Melbourne training to be a Para-Olympian for 2 years in shot put, coming sixth in the world.

In 2013, I suffered an injury.

In late March 2014 I came to STEPS Employment in Caloundra to be registered for employment assistance. I chose STEPS because of the positive stories I had heard about how they help unemployed jobseekers to find a suitable job and for the support they provide jobseekers and employers, from the job start until as long as needed.

At my first meeting with STEPS reception and then with my employment consultant and other trainers, I was treated with genuine respect, I was listened to, and was provided with information that made me feel that STEPS had the professional experience to support me.

I worked with several people at STEPS in my path to employment, though Brian Kerr, my employment consultant was the main person, and the one who ultimately placed me in August this year into my present job as a Kitchen hand at the Moorings cafe / restaurant. This job matched my career path perfectly. I love my job and am learning more than I had hoped was possible.

Being back in the workforce working means that I am on track towards my career goal of following a secure career path working in the kitchens at the mines.

Lindsay is currently training to compete in Dubai next year with hopes to make it to the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
