The main aim of this role is to develop and deliver Literacy and Numeracy training programs to disadvantaged jobseekers in Cairns and surrounding areas. These programs will be planned and delivered in accordance with the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP) contract guidelines and the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

Our STEPS Alice Springs team is currently seeking a skilled, motivated, autonomous and creative Trainer / Assessor - a self-starter with get-up and go!
Through contextualised delivery where LLN outcomes are interwoven with practical tasks, you will assist your indigenous students to attain skills in Language Literacy and Numeracy, then assess their applied knowledge to assist them in their journey preparing for work.

To Succeed You Will

- focus on the detail to assess, record and report student attendance and outcomes.
- coordinate the flow of information between STEPS and all relevant stakeholders
- have excellent presentation, facilitation and communicaiton skills (verbal and written).
Mandatory Requirements- TAE40110 Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAELLN401A highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience teaching ESL or Adult Literacy - in the last 3 years
- Current “C” class driving license
- Willingness to undergo an Australian Federal Police and Ochre Card checks– with acceptable results
- Demonstrated experience working with indigenous students
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 2007 and reporting software
Preferred requirements- B.Ed. / DipEd or equiv; or an undergraduate degree
- A recognised specialist TESOL or specialist Adult Literacy qualification
- Experience living in a remote indigenous community

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Program Coordinator – Youth Connections, you will be the face and voice of STEPS Tennant Creek, providing first impressions and excellent customer service to visitors, clients and students including face-to-face, telephone and written communications. You will also provide effective and efficient administrative support to your team members.
You will be responsible for - Providing a warm, welcoming and orderly reception for the site, whilst maintaining a professional presentation and respectful attitude
- Keeping yourself updated as a source of knowledge on STEPS services
- Accurate and timely message taking and delivery
- Provision of accurate and efficient administrative support to your team members.
About You
A warm, friendly and enthusiastic administrative professional with a strong customer service orientation, you will be well presented, and have local knowledge and demonstrated understanding and respect for local Indigenous culture - which will enable you to hit the ground running. You will liaise comfortably and positively with Community Elders, network service providers, clientele and of course, your STEPS team.
Your attention to detail, pro-active approach and priority management skills coupled with your ability to work within a multi-faceted outcomes-oriented team will ensure success within this role.
You will have- Proven experience in the provision of exceptional customer service, accurate message taking and delivery, while maintaining a respectful manner and professional presentation
- Demonstrated administrative support in a service delivery environment, with sound knowledge of administrative systems and procedures, and proficiency with office technology
- Exceptional priority management, organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to effectively support a team and take responsibility for meeting deadlines
- Certificate IV in Business Administration or related fields, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.

A newly created role is available in our Human Resources Team for a Degree or Diploma qualified Work Health & Safety Advisor with a proven ability to develop, implement, assess and review a comprehensive Work Health and Safety Management System. You will need a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of current WHS legislation.
Reporting to and working in collaboration with the HR Manager, this role is key to the efficient and effective rollout of STEPS Work Health and Safety Management System and Action Plan within a six month period.
- Full-time, Specific-Period role (six months)
